I am Dr. Yasuaki Shida,
the director of Shida Kids Clinic.

My profile

I graduated from Nara Medical university, obtained my medical degree in 2001 and have been working as a pediatrician for about 20 years.I am a board-certified pediatrician in the Japanese Pediatric Society.

While I continued my medical practice, I also obtained Ph.D and worked at Queen`s university in Canada for 3 years. For thelast 5 years, I worked at Nara Medical University as one of the pediatric staffs. I was also the ward manager as well as the chief of staff for 2-year terms each.

Although it was my pleasure to see severely sick children in the university hospital and continue medical research as a principal investigator, my original interest was in the primary care.

The out-patient clinic is the first and vitally important point of contact for children who are unwell. Therefore, I decide to open my own pediatric clinic and use my knowledge, expertise and skills to advance the health of children in my hometown.

I was raised and lived in Tomigaoka for more than 20 years, making my choice of clinic location a natural and easy one.
As a child, I had a number of health concerns and pediatricians as well as other doctors around Tomigaoka area helped me a lot. Now, it is my turn to give back to the next generation in Tomigaoka.

Our clinic is not just the place to treat sick children but the place to support raising healthy and happy children.

Our mission is to make Nara and Japan a better place for children and we will do our best to support your children as a pediatric clinic.

Of course, you can visit our clinic when your child is sick. We try our best to treat your sick children and help to recover quickly. It does not mean we use lots of medicine for your children.

“Do not harm” is the famous word in the pediatric text book. It is not always a good practice to use medicines which might interfere the natural improvement.
When we think just observation is the best choice for your child, we may not use medicine. If your child have benefit with the treatment, we absolutely offer so.

Parents and care givers with sick children may have difficulty in balancing work and raising children. Therefore, our clinic will be open until 8 pm on weekdays and 4:30 pm on Saturdays, which will be very helpful for families of working parents.

We want you to feel free to come and ask questions. To reduce your stress in just waiting your turn and to make your access easier to our clinic, we have the internet reservation system.

We also think prevention for disease is important. We provide vaccinations for your child to avoid vaccine preventable diseases.

Regular health check-ups are also helpful to identify and treat issues as early as possible.
We try not only to just treat your child but also to provide support and education to the family regarding how to deal and manage with the problems of your child.

: The specialty of Pediatrics

Dr .Shida is the board certified doctor in the specialty of Pediatrics, Allergy, Hematology.
In addition to general pediatrics, chronic disease in these areas can be seen, especially allergic diseases.

: Avoid infections

You can minimize your stay in our clinic if you prefer to wait in the car. We can call you up when your turn is coming. Children with infectious diesease wait in a separated room to reduce the risk of infection. 3:00-4:30 pm (weekdays) is reservation only, and no fever and severe cough are allowed. Only routine and preventative care is provided during this time.
